Dear Friends and Colleagues,

The 37th Byzantine Studies conference will be held at DePaul University in Chicago on October 21-23, 2011. There will be a pre-conference lecture at the Art Institute of Chicago on Thursdayevening,October 20th by Prof. Robert Nelson (Yale).

DePaul University is pleased to host the 37th Byzantine Studies Conference at its Lincoln Park Campus. DePaul is the largest Catholic institution in the U.S. and was voted one of the twenty most diverse campuses in the country by The Princeton Review. As a Vincentian institution that values ecumenical dialogue, we welcome the opportunity to foster scholarly discussion about Byzantine history, literature, art, and culture. Our faculty and students look forward to a fruitful exchange with members of BSANA on our campus.

Graduate students giving papers at the Byzantine Studies Conference who do not reside in the area of the conference are entitled to partial reimbursement of travel expenses.

Graduate Student Travel Reimbursements for BSC 2010

The BSANA welcomes and encourages graduate students in Byzantine Studies and related fields to attend and participate in the 2010 Byzantine Studies Conference at the University of Pennsylvania. To enable students who are not residents of the Philadelphia area to attend the BSC, stipends for room and travel are available. To qualify for a stipend reimbursing expenses, a graduate student must be a member of the BSANA by October 1, 2010 and must register for the Conference.

Students attending the BSC may receive reimbursement up to $300, and students presenting a paper may receive reimbursement up to $500.

Application for the stipend must be postmarked by December 1, 2010 and must include: (1) original receipts for accommodations and travel only, (2) proof of student status (3) a postal address where the reimbursement check should be sent.
